The President of Skål International Madrid, Francisco Rivero, has been awarded the prize for the Best Tourism Journalist for the programme ‘Gente Viajera’ (Travelling People), which is run by the journalist Vicente Pozas in Onda Cero Extremadura.

The 5th edition of the Gente Viajera Awards is promoted by the Extremadura Tourism Cluster, whose president is María José García Curto.

The winners were announced after a meeting of the Tourism Cluster's board of directors and members of the jury in the latest ‘Gente Viajera de Extremadura’ programme.

The winners are the following:

• Tourism Destination Award: The Xacobean Route of the Vía de la Plata.

• Tourism Promotion Award: The town of Guadalupe.

• Tourism Innovation Award: Rural Complex "Among Holm Oaks and Stars".

• Tourism Company Award: Atrio Restaurant.

• Gastronomy Award: Chef César Ráez

• Cultural Attractiveness Award: Helga de Alvear Museum, Cáceres.

• Portuguese Tourism Award: The village on the edge of Marvao

• Best Tourism Journalist Award: Francisco Rivero.

The awards ceremony was held on 14 October at the Mayoralgo Palace, the headquarters of Liberbank, in the monumental city of Cáceres.
